Company: Posadas Group, México.

Title: WCM EMC – Documentum system implementation replacing the Filenet eGrail platform.

Problem: The Posadas group had a technological platform to manage its Web site in Internet consisting of Filenet’s eGrail 4.02.5 as Web and BEA WebLogic 3.5 content administrator as application server. Through this platform, more than 5,000 active HTML pages and their respective database records were managed, plus some 1,300 asset files (images, , pdf, ipx, etc.). Some HTML pages contained code (JavaScript) as part of its content. With these pages, assets and data, plus an unknown quantity of customized BEA 3.5 code, all the hotel chain web sites and the corporate nature commercial information were published in the Internet. These sites give different types of services to the users.

Some aspects the customer wanted to correct and improve are:

improve the WCM performance.

Solve the eGrail editor weaknesses (bullets and tables inexistence, etc.)

Inability to maintain the sites in different status (WIP, Staging, Active).

Inability to preview the contents to be published.

Actual control of the published pages validity (at least promotions, adds, banners are contents which expire and they should have validity).

Inability to use workflows in the publishing process.

Improve WCM security.

Solution: The solution suggested by Puntocom S.A. consisted on the eGrail WCM platform for the EMC Documentum together with the updating of the BEA 7.0 application server. The strategy adopted to start the Web management over the new platform consisted in the migration of all the customization code already developed in BEA from version 3.5 to 7 introducing to this code just the mandatory changes for the manufacturer (BEA) for the migration. In the same way, the business rules were recreated for the content creation, updating and publishing in the new WCM EMC – Documentum platform. The database used was Oracle 8.1.7.

Results: As a result of this migration, the new Posadas group web site is presented http://www.posadas.com , which keep the same site form and content before managed by Filenet eGrail. This site comprises the management of diverse brands and mini-sites in 3 languages with profiled Access and high dynamism in the daily updated of the commercial content. From now on, all new content and the modification of the existing one will be managed by the EMC - Documentum WCM platform obtaining significant improvement in the content updating security, versatility and the robustness to support future growths.
