Problem: Document handling without organization and structure with information lost, document search difficulties and accumulative knowledge wasting, the consequences of this situation were the indiscriminative increase of costs and lack of corporate knowledge capitalization.
Solution: to implement a system of a Knowledge Management, with the following stages:
Consulting for company´s information handling diagnosis.
Policies, standards and procedure design for anaconda´s holding information handling.
Policies, standards and procedure design for anaconda´s holding information handling.
Technological platform installation, elaboration of procedures and training for the new operation.
Results: Currently the Antofagasta minerals group, (ex Anaconda Chile group) has a full Knowledge Capitalization process implementing program, which has the following components:
Documented group of policies, standards and procedures for the holding´s information handling.
World class EMC – Documentum technological platform for contents in operation state management to manage Intranet and Extranet contents.
Logical design for content management, based in process and groups by business areas. This design allows to support the information control of all the business proceses from the company.
Trained Staff for defined procedures application and use.
Automated Document publishing system in the corporate intranet, based in profiles and roles.
Critical process group managed and capitalized with worldwide operation potencial via web. Within this process it outstands until now: Performance management (HHRR),Technical information internal publishing, proyects learned lessons (Lessons Learned).)
