The mining company starts its DMS “Documentum Management System” whose goal is the corporate implementation of a united platform for the comapny electronic document management and the existing records and documents migration to the new platform.

SANTIAGO, June 2002.- With the acquisition of EMC-Documentum, Disputada has initiated its DMS project (Document Management System), whose final goal is to unify in a single repository all the non-structured content from the operational processes of its work plants. These mining companies are “El Soldado”, “Los Bronces” and Chagres”.

In the first stage the project will be concentrated on the technical documentation of: (i) “El Soldado” geology and engineering superintendency, and (ii) “Los Bronces” security, health and environment OIMS security system. The solution will allow all involved people to query and redline documents in a customized way with strict control to permits using a standard browser. A sub group of them will have document creation and modification faculties including CADs drawings. All users could participate in Workflows for control change in documents.

The consultancy on the implantation was contracted to Puntocom S.A., EMC – Documentum representative in Chile and Latin America who will design a solution able to support gradual incorporation of new bussiness processes over the same platform. This design will serve as a base for the development of new process solutions in the light of the company’s policies, standards and procedures.

With the EMC-Documentum implementation, “Disputada” fulfill the ExxonMobil Co. corporate standard as a platform for the business content management for all companies part of the holding.

DISPUTADA DE LAS CONDES MINING COMPANY
Disputada de Las Condes is an ExxonMobil subsidiary company in Chile with an investment of US$ 1.400 million in the last ten years. It is dedicated to the mining exploitation and it is the “El Soldado”, “Los Bronces” and “Chagres” mines owner. Currently, “Disputada” produces 250.000 copper tons per year, mainly as anodes and catodes. It also produces molybdenum and sulfuric acid.

The company was recently acquired by AngloAmerica, a Southafrican mining group with wide presence in Chile through the mines “Mantos Blancos” and “Collahuasi”.
